qualities of Good Asil

well! you are thinking to acquire a new asil bird and have different options in front of you, but it is hard for you to identify one great bird. there is a myth that asils that are of white eye are good fighters and are of pure breed which is to some extent very true. Since asils are game birds and people from southern Asia especially in Pakistan and India have produced there own breeds. Now since you are new to the field and want to acquire asil as pets or for fight a good bird selection is very important.here are few of the guidelines in my experience which can be very helpful to you.

if you are going to buy chick then:

1) check the legs and beak colors it must be of the same color.

2) Color of the beak and legs can be ivory or yellow.

3) The legs shape preferably should be Square which means a more hard hitter bird.

4) The tail must be droopy and not upright.

If you are opting for a bird of 7-8 months or older:

the above points 1,2,3 apply to the same bird.

1) buy a bird that has a upright stance with chest pointing outwards.

2) the pupil of the bird must close and tiny usually birds with bigger pupil are not of good quality.

3) check the pelvic bones of the cock the closer the joints more strong the bird is.Always buy a bird with closed joints.

4) check the bottom of the claws for the bumble foot disease which is also called "CHAUNDI" in Punjabi language.

5) the bird must be active, alert and must have shiny eyes.

6) the width of the legs should preferably be as wide as possible,

7) Do not buy birds with chest bone being prominent it must be fleshy and muscled.

8) do not opt for an asil with orange shade or orange colored eye as it is not pure.

Hope this articles helps you soon i will come up with breeding techniques, diseases and their cure, caring for chicks, feeding aseels and much more. here are some pictures of good birds.

Sometimes droopy tail is not always necessary.A tail at body is good as well. I am posting some new pictures of the birds as well please your view and concerns.
